ARIOM ( @ariom.psd )

Featuring Digital Creatives’ own, Moira Castillo! The flat design maestro 😉! Keep reading to know more about ARIOM.

Moira Castillo is a 20-year-old 3rd-year communication student. Starting at the age of 13, Moira’s interest in creating art sparked as she got curious about how to sketch a manga! Moira also took inspiration from artists like One Direction, as she created her first artwork… a 1D Tumblr GIF *fangirls*

As the night changes~, Moira’s curiosity around art expressions and styles grew. Accompanied by a whole lot of determination, her skills prevailed, and the artist ARIOM rose. At first, Moira was reluctant to call herself an artist because of doubt and uncertainty, but slowly she caved in and discovered her form.

ARIOM shared that their art style is liberated and has sold herself as a versatile artist, an artist that can create whichever. However, being an artist and finding your identity can be exhausting. These days, Moira a.k.a ARIOM is focusing on flat illustrations.

“ ‘ARIOM’ as an artist is the side of me where I can freely express myself in whatever ways I want. I can be as liberated as I want because the artworks that I make are usually ideas that pop into my head at ungodly hours.” Moira wrote. (Talk about talent!)

The demeaning of artists are sadly still rampant. Moira talked about being in this industry, and the downside of it is setting up a price. “It’s either the price is too low or too high? Your price also sticks with your identity. Don’t settle for less when you know you deserve better.” For setting up commission prices, Moira recommends checking other artists’ commission rates as one of the ways where you can compare and contrast.

Moira left advice for artists who do commissions and sell art. “It is important that you know your self-worth and value. Doing commissions can also be quite tedious, and it is important to take breaks. You’re a human being, after all, and for the people who buy commissions, it is important to know and respect how the artist works. If there are miscommunications, you must address them right away. “
